Fueling Equity in Public Education
Launch Network strives to close persistent achievement and opportunity gaps by providing holistic education to children furthest behind. By creating micro-schools within the public school system, Launch provides authentic, whole-child learning environments where students can get the individual attention they need to succeed.
Launching the potential of kids and families, one school at a time.
Alongside focused academic instruction, Launch prioritizes personal growth, social development, and leadership skills. We achieve this by making education relatable to students and introducing them to representative role models. Launch also establishes a supportive network of adults who foster students’ development. Because the students furthest behind academically are primarily children of color, we partner with a diverse group of community educators so each child feels represented

In its first two years, Launch has seen remarkable improvements in participants’ academic, social, and emotional growth and development. Based on an assessment of risk for behaviors that impact academic achievement, 100% of students who were “extremely at risk” or “at risk” moved into the “normal” range. When measured against national averages, Launch students in the 2018-2019 school year grew an average of 2 years in math and 1.7 years in reading. Years of research has shown that children who fall behind early in their education are very rarely able to catch up to their peers. By high school, the gap is typically insurmountable. Launch has enabled a remarkable disruption of this pattern. Not only are Launch students catching up to their peers, but they demonstrate growth trajectories that far outpace those of similar students who did not participate in the program.
